Calumet Fire on 5th Street ( forever changed)

      Several fire departments (12) from all over the Keweenaw responded to the call about a fire on 5th street.  It wasn't long before a whole block was burned to the ground. The fire raged on through the night, with a loss of over 15 apartments and several business  burned to the ground.  It was estimated that over 30 people were displaced from their home..

                         Notice the two lamp post are still in very good condition.

The other end of the block is where the 5th street laundry- mat business was. The scene as of now, is considered a crime scene, as the Fire Marshall believes at this time the fire was caused by arson
